PHNOM PENH: Cambodia continues to strengthen cooperation in all fields with Vietnam, especially in the field of information media, to fight the spread of fake news and information and respond to the opposition that seeks to break the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

This commitment was made on the occasion of the completion of the diplomatic mission of the Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia, Nguyen Huy Tang. The Vietnamese Ambassador met with the Minister of Information, Khieu Kanharith, on Monday, 28 February at the Ministry of Information.

According to Chrim Chheng Lim, the translator of the talks, the Vietnamese side has encouraged the exchange of visits between delegations, leaders and officials of the two countries' Ministries of Information as well as journalists.

During his tenure in the diplomatic service, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang said he would work to further strengthen the two countries' existing media cooperation.

He called for the exchange of information in the field of counterfeiting and the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries' media to bring the Vietnamese and Cambodian people closer together. In particular, the direction of the transition from analog to digital broadcasting was stressed during the discussions.

Taking this opportunity, Minister Khieu Kanharith asked the Vietnamese side to help coordinate with the Cambodian side on matter of technology, and to guide Cambodian national television during the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, which Vietnam will host in 2022, so that Cambodia will be prepared when it hosts the 32nd SEA Games 2023.
